What are the 8 Ingredients in Simply Delish Desserts?

You see it says natural in all of our desserts’ packaging,  so you may be wondering what is in our products that make them natural? Yes, all Simply Delish products are allergen-free and are compliant to many different lifestyles such as vegan keto and gluten-free. Within those diets, there are certain ingredients that are compliant and not compliant. Those ingredients can also affect your body and your health. This blog post will show you what ingredients are found in both Simply Delish Jels and Puddings.

Each one of our pudding flavors is comprised of the same ingredients except each flavor has a different natural flavor. With only eight ingredients total you can be assured that our puddings are not only delicious but all-natural and guilt-free.

Dextrin:  If you’re in your local supermarket and pick up different items, you may see the popular ingredient in many different products, dextrin. The most common form of dextrin that is used in the food industry is white dextrins. White dextrins are commonly found on the ingredient labels of a ton of different products in your grocery store, including Simply Delish. We use dextrin in our range of puddings as an all-natural thickener, except for Chocolate Flavor. When combined with a liquid such as milk, water, or almond milk, it’ll thicken any products including soups, baby food, and stews. Aside from being an all-natural thickening agent, it’s also an ingredient used to replace fats in low-calorie foods. [1]

Emulsifier: The verb emulsifying can be defined as two or more liquids that are normally unmixable. However,  the vegan emulsifiers we use in our range are meant to add texture and freshness as well as keep together the dry and moist ingredients.   [2]

Potato Starch: Potato is in the name, so this starch must come from potatoes. If that’s what you were assuming, you assumed right. Potato starch is a common root starch that is derived from the cells of potatoes, plus it’s plant-based and gluten-free! It’s used as a thickening agent, but there is a difference between potato starches and grain starches. When eating foods with potato starch, you’ll find that they have a much smoother mouthfeel than grain-based starch.    [3]

Natural Flavor:  Our range of desserts is comprised of natural, plant-based ingredients, including the flavoring in each of our flavors. Instead of using artificial flavors that can potentially harm your body. Natural flavors are created through the process of roasting or heating materials such as vanilla or cocoa in order to create a natural, sweet-tasting flavor. The environment is the source of our products, and therefore must be protected. It is essential to preserve ecosystem functions and to provide for the wellbeing of future generations Our corporate goals endeavor to achieve the overall quality of life!  [4]

Natural Color:  Synthetic colors in food products is so last year. All-natural food-based coloring is what’s in this year. You can find natural colors in foods found around your house and pantry. How does one obtain natural food-based coloring? Simple.  Foods and naturally sourced materials with similar “colorings are physically extracted resulting in selective extraction of pigments relative” to the food or product of choice.    [5]

Erythritol:  This zero-calorie, plant-based sweetener can be found in many fruits and vegetables. Erythritol is considered a type of carbohydrate called sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in foods such as pears, watermelon and grapes. This sweetener has added benefits because it does not impact blood glucose or insulin secretion!      [6]

Stevia Extract:  Originating in South America, stevia extract comes directly from the stevia plant. Stevia is a commonly used substitute for sugar that on average is 200-350 times sweeter than granulated. For more information on stevia and why we use it in our range of products, check out our blog post What is Stevia: benefits, facts, and uses.

Salt:  Ok, do we really need to go into depth about salt? You most likely used it to season your dinner or breakfast this morning. Like you seasoned your eggs this morning, we use salt in our range of products to add flavor and compliment the sweet side of desserts. Unlike other competitive brands on the market, our Jels are different because they are all-natural, plant-based ingredients that are 100% vegan-friendly. Similar to the puddings, each jel flavor has the same ingredients except, each flavor has a different natural flavoring to it. Since our Jels and Puddings share similar ingredients, we’re going to explain those ingredients that are only found in our Jels but not our Puddings.

Citric Acid: Citric acid is a common organic acid that can be found in many fruits and vegetables. It is commonly used as a flavoring additive and preservative. Normally, when added to food products, citric acid adds a citric, almost sour flavoring. Because of its similar white, powdery substance, citric acid is also known as sour salt. [9]

Carrageenan: Derived from under the sea, this extract comes from red, edible seaweed. Used as a thickening agent and preservative, refined carrageenan is widely used in the food industry.   [10]

Potassium Citrate: An essential mineral found in fiber-rich foods, the main use of potassium citrate in the food industry is for preservative purposes.    [11]
