On the labels of different products, you may see the phrases “artificial flavors” or “natural flavors.” Right away, we most likely jump to the conclusion that the flavoring for that product was either made by humans or came from the natural world around us. But when you think about it, what is the difference between natural flavoring and artificial flavoring and where exactly is that flavor derived from? What are artificial flavors?

When you think of the word artificial, you’re most likely thinking fake or not real. According to Merriam Webster dictionary, the word artificial means, “lacking in natural or spontaneous quality. Imitation.” Quite frankly, artificial flavors genuinely mean the same thing. Artificial flavors are man-made flavors that imitate their respected natural flavor. Often, manufacturers used artificial flavors in place of natural flavors to help lower the cost of goods. For example, it’s a cost-efficient method to make something taste like vanilla flavoring without using a natural ingredient like seeds of a vanilla bean.

What are natural flavors?

Unlike artificial flavors, natural flavors come from natural ingredients from the Earth. According to the Food and Drug Administration, natural flavors, “are the natural essence or extractives obtained from plants.”  What the FDA means is that all-natural flavors come from plants, vegetables, spices, and herbs. Technically, both natural and artificial flavors are made in a lab, however, artificial flavors contain synthetic materials which enhance the product’s taste or smell. Similarly, Simply Delish Desserts use all-natural ingredients, which includes flavoring.

The difference between artificial flavors and natural flavors comes down to where the flavor chemicals come from. As previously said, natural flavor chemicals come from plant or animal material while artificial flavors come from laboratories.

Unlike other plant-based milk, barley milk’s consistency is thick. It has a similar consistency to cow milk, except it’s completely plant-based. The process of creating barley milk is unique. When did your WW (formerly known as Weight Watchers) / journey begin?

I started my journey February 28, 2017. I reached Lifetime status (reaching my goal weight & maintained for 6 weeks)  August 20, 2019.

As a WW ambassador, how has the journey been from the day you started until today?

My journey has pretty much stayed the same. I am just honored that WW has highlighted my wellness journey as reflective of living a healthy lifestyle.

If any, what are some obstacles you’ve had to overcome and how do you stay positive?

A lot of obstacles I had to overcome were internal with my mindset. I realized that it started with me. I had to show myself love and making my wellness a priority is not selfish. I stay positive because the positives are typically what I take for granted. To ensure I look at the positives and keeping a positive attitude is showing myself and the world gratitude.

Walk us through what you make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Breakfast: 2 egg veggie omelette, air fried potatoes, banana, and coffee.

Lunch: Veggie burger with spicy brown mustard on light wheat bread on top of spinach, celery & carrots with hummus, and an apple.

Dinner: whole wheat pasta with organic marinara sauce with meatless meatballs, side salad, and sprouted bread

How do you incorporate fitness into your everyday life?

I workout 6 days a week. It’s a mix of cardio, weightlifting, and core. I’m an avid runner. I’ve run 44 races since 2017 and signed up for my first full marathon this year. I also am a big fan of barre classes.

Who are your foodie inspirations that you look up to?

This may sound cheesy but my foodie inspirations are my paternal Polish grandmother who made things from scratch and love. The other inspiration is my maternal grandfather who worked as a chef by trade.

What are your favorite recipes to create?

My favorite recipes are things that are easy & sustainable. I view that with fitness as well. You want recipes that allow you the flexibility to be consistent.

What impact has Simply Delish Desserts made in your life?

Simply Delish Desserts have been amazing. I’m a Flexitarian (mainly plant-based) and lactose intolerant so these Simply Delish Desserts have helped aligned with my wellness journey.

What would you say to someone who is on the fence about WW ?

What are your go-to words of advice for anyone reading this?

Remember you are a priority in your life so your health and wellness should be a priority. Also, we are all perfectly imperfect so don’t ever be afraid to make mistakes because that’s how we learn and grow. Keep pushing forward.

Meat production is harmful because it causes pollution, and is the leading factor of climate change. Making the change from a non-vegan lifestyle to a vegan lifestyle is not only beneficial for you but it’s also beneficial for the world you live in.

When choosing to follow a vegan lifestyle, you’re not only helping animals but you’re helping your wallet as well. Primarily, a vegan diet consists of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and grains. These foods can help cut your food expenses in half. For example, freezing items like fruits and vegetables can prolong the shelf life of these foods, while making your bank account full. These foods can also be bought in bulk. Stores like Costco offers vegan-friendly food in bulk at a budget-friendly price. Having a pantry full of nuts, seeds and grains can make for an easy snack or lunch option. Aside from saving money on your groceries, with a healthier lifestyle, you’ll also be cutting the cost of medications and doctors’ visits.
Enjoy Your Favorite Foods 

Don’t think that choosing to follow a vegan lifestyle means you have to give up your favorite foods. You can still enjoy your go-to comfort foods, snacks, and desserts while keeping it plant-based! If you’re on the run, fast food places like Burger King now offer a completely vegan-friendly menu. Going into 2021, we believe you could use a little positivity and motivation to start this year with a smile.  

Small Goals

Goals can come in any shape and size! They don’t have to be these extra-large goals that could potentially be out of reach. Start the new year by setting small goals, look at them as baby steps. These goals can last through the week, the month, or over the year. These goals should be something you can track so you can keep up with the progress. For example, set a small goal like tracking the number of steps you take. You can track this goal daily or weekly and see how you can increase the number of steps you take. And hey, maybe after reaching these baby step goals, enjoy a bowl or two of Simply Delish Jel or Pudding!

Don’t Be so Hard on Yourself

This year has been hard enough on you, so take a minute and give yourself a big pat on the back. You’ve made it through one of the most challenging years in history and you’re still standing on your two feet. According to, the word affirmation means, “something that is affirmed; a statement or proposition that is declared to be true.” This means, making a statement that is confirmed true. Consider this, try starting your day with one daily affirmation. For example, wake up and say to yourself, “I’m thankful for…” Whether it’s for your health, a roof over your head or simply being able to watch your favorite television show on Netflix. Be thankful for the small things in your life, the things that bring you joy. Research shows that daily affirmations have a positive effect on the brain and your overall wellbeing. Why not start your day with a positive thought which will be beneficial for you throughout the entire day!

If you’re a fan of Parks and Rec, you know what “treat yo’self” means! Donna Meagle and Tom Haverford paved the way to truly treat yourself. As we mentioned before, don’t be too hard on yourself. However, if you do end up completing a task of achieving a goal, reward yourself! You deserve to recognize your gains, especially during a pandemic. You may have had things taken from you this year, whether not seeing friends and family or spend the afternoon at your favorite restaurant. But don’t worry, you can always treat yourself to something that will boost your spirits! Enjoy a big bowl of Simply Delish Instant Pudding or how about a layered dessert of Simply Delish Jel and whipped cream, while watching your favorite show or movie. At the end of the day, don’t be afraid to give in and treat yourself to the little things that bring you joy!

Vegan Chocolate Peppermint Pudding Bars

This mouth-watering dessert is perfect for the holiday season. The combination of peppermint and chocolate brings you back to your childhood, enjoying a tall cup of hot chocolate. This vegan recipe is easy and only has seven ingredients including the minty, peppermint topping.

  • ¾ cup oat flour
  • 2 tbls maple syrup
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 flax egg 1 tbsp ground flax & 3 tbsp water, let thicken for 10-15 min



  • Preheat oven 350°F.
  • Mix crust ingredients to form a dough. If too sticky, add more flour and if too dry add some warm water or more syrup. 
  • Press into a parchment lined small loaf/baking pan.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  • Make pudding according to directions.
  • Once crust has cooled for about 20 min, spread pudding on top & top with crushed candy canes.
  • Place in the freezer until set (at least 4 hours). 
  • Let thaw slightly, slice, & enjoy.

  • 1 packet Simply Delish Vanilla Pudding
  • cups milk alternative or, 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbls sugar-free maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 10 drops Oooflavors bacon flavor concentrate If you don’t have the concentrate, you can add actual bacon bits for that smoky flavor!


  • ½ cup maple syrup equal parts
  • ½ cup powdered sugar substitute
  • bacon crumbles


  • 1 packet Keto and Co. pancake mix



  • Mix the Simply Delish Instant Vanilla Pudding with the milk according to the package.
  • Once the pudding is, add the maple syrup, cinnamon and Oooflavor bacon concentrate.


  • Mix equal parts maple syrup, and powdered sugar substitute until a frosting forms.
  • Cook three pieces of bacon and crumble.


  • Follow the instructions for the Keto and Co. pancake mix.
  • Add the mixture to a silicone sphere mold and fill halfway.
  • Once filled, airfry for 10-12 minutes at 350°f.


  • Once cooled, fill each donut with the pudding filling mixture by poking a small hole and using a piping bag.
  • Dip each donut top in the maple glaze and add the bacon crumbles to each one.
  • For added decoration, sprinkle powdered sugar substitute over the batch of donuts.
  • Serve and enjoy.

  • 1 egg
  • cup Lakanto powdered sugar monkfruit sweetener
  • cup almond flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup butter solid
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp Lakanto monkfruit sweetener
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Start with your pudding first! Whip your Simply Delish Instant Pudding powder and almond milk until it doubles in size and takes on pudding consistency.
  • Then place your pudding in the fridge while you start to make the brownie crust.
  • Put all of your ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk. Make sure the butter is well incorporated.
  • The dough should be crumbly.
  •  Using your hands spread out the dough in your dish.
  •  Bake for 15 min or until set.
  • Once that is done let it cool for a bit and then start making your whip cream topping.
  •  In another bowl whip your cream and sugar. Then add in your vanilla until your mixture forms stiff peaks!

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Simply Delish Strawberry Pudding
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 15-20 golden Oreos
  • 1 cup fruit-flavored marshmallows


  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Add in eggs and vanilla extract, beat until combined. Scrape down the bowl once complete.
  •  In a separate bowl, whisk together dry ingredients (flour, pudding mix, salt, baking soda).
  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in 2-3 portions, mixing well after each addition.
  • Coarsely crush the Golden Oreos using a food processor. Add the Oreos and marshmallows to the dough and mix until combined.
  • Use a spoon or cookie dough scoop to measure and ball the cookie dough (if you are not using a cookie dough scoop, you should roll the dough into balls with your hands).
  •  Place balled cookie dough on to greased cookie sheet, leaving at least 1 inch in between each cookie.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the bottom just begins to brown (cookie edges should just barely brown before removing from the oven).

What is ultra-filtered milk?

To simply put it, ultra-filtered milk also known as diafiltered milk, is natural milk that has not gone through any forms of filtrations that typically remove fats and solids. But let’s get into a deeper understanding of what exactly ultra-filtered milk and how it differs from typical milk. Compared to regular milk, ultra-filtered milk is higher in protein and lower in sugar. So how does ultra-filtered milk come toSpecial ultra-filtered cows that have no filter when they “MOOO” at each other? Funny, but no.

What is the process of ultra-filtered milk?

The process of creating ultra-filtered milk goes beyond just not filtering regular dairy milk.  Think of this, your typical milk is made up of sugar or lactose and water. That milk is pressed through a thin membrane which filters water and sugar and other ingredients that makeup milk. Once the natural water is removed along with the sugar, you’re left with ultra-filtered milk that is lower in sugar, higher in protein, and ultimately is lactose-free. When compared to regular milk, consumers of ultra-filtered milk say that the taste is rich and creamy, even compared to milk alternatives!
